Your /etc/X11/XF86Config (or /etc/XF86Config-4) configuration file is likely 
still set up for whichever video card you were using last.  The simplest way 
to reconfigure it would be to use whatever Xserver setting programs come with 
your distribution of Linux (or I imagine BSD, Solaris, etc.) or use "X 
-configure" as root to create a generic file which will need editing to work 
correctly, but makes a fine base.  If that's all set correctly, then it may 
be that the horizontal and vertical sync aren't set to the correctly for your 
monitor.  These are found toward the middle of most auto-configured 
XF86Config files.  Hope that helps some!
