Hi,
We (sys. admin. team at a french university) got a loan of an optiplex
260 box from Dell. We are trying to validate our linux config on it
(debian pre-woody).
Those boxes have an integrated video, with the new i82845/GL from Intel.
We got stuck with the conf. of Xfree86. Hence a couple of questions :
- what is the status of the support for this chipset ?
- is there anything serious (patch etc...) under this announce from
intel or is it just vaporware :

- if the chipset is unsupported :
- is there a way to get a descent support with the another module
(1024*768, 32bit, > 75Hz, no 3D needed) ?
- any idea when that chipset will be supported (6 months, 1 year, never)
We got to decide on what config (optiplex 240/optiplex 260) we chose
early next week. So we would appreciate any advice.
