I seem to have fixed the problem, and I have no idea why it works. There is a setting in my system bios called "CPU Hardwired IOQ". There are 2 settings, 1 level and 4 level. The default (even in fail-safe bios defaults!) is 4 level... the motherboard manual says that 1 level is more stable. I had nothing else left to try, and nothing to lose, so I switched it to 1. X now works perfectly! I just played Tuxracer for a long time without a hitch.
Thanks for the help guys. --dave __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
