Fabrizio,
Current GTK 2 CVS has code for screen migration (even between X servers)
A person at Sun (whose name I always forget) did the screen migration stuff
this spring, I then tested it worked even between servers, and Owen Taylor
has since done some work to try to shake out more of the resulting problems.
So making GTK/gnome apps migrate is within reach.
There are security implications to this, of course, which need work.
Also, emacs has had migration capability for a decade.
Unfortunately, naive Xlib/Xt apps are unlikely to be retrofit this way;
it requires some thought when you design a toolkit, something that has been
sadly lacking.
