A lot of them mention that they are not subscribed to the list. My guess is that these messages have to be checked by a moderator to exclude spam, and the moderator has just submitted a bunch of accepts. Perhaps he took the mail off on holiday on his laptop, and he has just got back and hooked up to the net, so all posts got sent at once ?
