find the config first....... root#find / -name XF86Config
its probably in /etc/X11 remove it and any others find finds.
run xf86config as root and select the correct choices for you system and let the config tool write it when it ask to.
now open the file in vi....cd etc/Xll/Xf86Config find the section on input pointers, in the mouse protocol section set it to "Auto" and for the device set you /dev/sysmouse that should get the mouse running and the xf86config should have setup the keyboard correctly and screens correctly. That's the only thing that worked for me.
good luck

However, so far I did not see an answer on how to solve it. What happens is that after starting X, both keyboard and mouse completely stop responding. Mouse pointer is not moving, keyboard is completely dead, including keys like num-lock, caps-lock that should switch on/off LED's. It is obvious that the machine is still running. If I start X only, it will lock after starting X, if I run startx script it will execute window manager as well. Other people have reported that one can telnet to the machine and kill X, but I cannot test that. This appears to be a frequent problem. Can anyone remember what has he/she done to fix/circumvent it. If I don't fix this one quick, my wife will kill me. Although some might think that the world would benefit from it, I would, on the other hand, be very disappointed.
