I am only getting garbage, as in having an erronous
refresh rate(?), on the screen when trying to get
Xfree86 4.2.1 going on a Thinkpad 760Xl. Its supposed
to be doing 800x600 in 16bpp. From lspci -v -v:
00:03.0 VGA compatible controller: Trident Microsystems
TGUI 9660/968x/968x (rev d3) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster- SpecCycle-
MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B-
Status: Cap- 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr-
DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 11
Region 0: Memory at 08000000 (32-bit,
non-prefetchable)
Region 1: Memory at 08400000 (32-bit,
non-prefetchable)
Region 2: Memory at 08800000 (32-bit,
non-prefetchable)
Expansion ROM at 000c0000
Which seems to be detected nicely by
Xfree86 -configure:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "trident"
VendorName "Trident"
BoardName "TGUI 96xx"
BusID "PCI:0:3:0"
EndSection
Any ideas on this? Should I set specific refresh rates
(Ive already tried with some numbers found on the net,
same result) or does the problem lye elsewhere? I
havent had any luck with the linux kernel framebuffer
drivers for trident either, if that matters.
