I wonder if anybody can assist me. I have just installed Red Hat 8.0 (Kernel
2.4.18-14) workstation install on a new Dell GX150 machine which has an
onboard graphics card 82815 CGC [Chipset Graphics Controller] on intel i810
board.

Although I can login to Blue Curve using either Gnome or KDE everytime I try
to swith to a console by pressing CTRL+ALT+F1 or ...F2 or F3...etc the X
server resets itself.

There are no obvious errors in the XFree86 log. The system log has the
following entries which are relevant:

Oct 24 08:15:42 pc74d-lnx kernel: [drm:i810_flush_queue] *ERROR* lockup
Oct 24 08:15:57 pc74d-lnx last message repeated 5 times
Oct 24 08:15:58 pc74d-lnx gdm(pam_unix)[2888]: session closed for user vmware
Oct 24 08:15:58 pc74d-lnx gdm[2888]: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error
- Restarting :0
Oct 24 08:15:59 pc74d-lnx kernel: mtrr: base(0xf8000000) is not aligned on a
size(0x180000) boundary
Oct 24 08:16:00 pc74d-lnx gconfd (vmware-1959): GConf server is not in use,
shutting down.
Oct 24 08:16:00 pc74d-lnx gconfd (vmware-1959): Exiting

Does anybody have any ideas how I can resolve this issue as it is really
annoying to have to loose all the applications that are open and start again.

Kind regards

Zac
