[Xpert]apple cinema + radeon dvi

Hi,

I've just put together a new system with an 23" apple cinema hd display using an ati radeon 7500 card through the apple adc to dvi convertor. However i get nothing on the display after power up. The power light on the apple appears to comes on, and then fades off again and then nothing. I'm using a fresh install of gentoo linux, ix36, with XFree86 4.2.1

Any ideas?
