I have a Compaq Evo N600c with a Radeon Mobility M6 LY chip and an external Compaq 9500 monitor using Xinerama on RedHat 8.0 with stock kernel. X works fine with both 4.2.0 and 4.2.1 fine except for the VMWare window (not using full screen because of Xinerama). If I use the stock 4.2.0 release of X that came with RedHat 8.0, the window refresh in the VMWare window is essentially non functional. You can see the screen if you move the mouse and little blocks that the mouse revealed can make the background show up. Of course there are mouse remnants left all over the screen also. I was able to get the display to function properly when I pulled the binaries of 4.2.0 from the xfree86.org ftp site. Then when I went to update to 4.2.1, the display went back to the same problem exhibited by the stock 4.2.0 release in RedHat 8.0. I am using the same XFree86-4 configuration file in all cases. I don't know if this is a bug or a configuration issue, any help would be appreciated.
