Hello,
If you look back to long term XFree86 support
from ATI for the open source developer community,
then you will see that this relation resulted
in several nice drivers with a good bunch of
interesting features in the misc grafics areas.
If you look back medium to short term, you will
see features like TV and video support pop up,
seeing some experimental and now hardening TCL
support and misc others people doing works on
the ATI hardware, e.g. XiG, the Weather channel
funded works at TG and a few other qualified people.
If you look again back medium to short term,
you will find that there were further a high performance
closed source driver for the XFree86/x86 target
availabel for the "built by ATI" boards for free.
Due to company policy and applying NDA regulations
I am not entiteled to talk about any present or
future products and software that is yet unpublished,
unreleased or alikes.
Despite all this, i hope the first three paragraphs
got you enough ideas on how things were and are going.
I just want so say, this "vessel" full of skilled coders
at Xpert, Dri and elsewhere is full of nice "steam" power.
-Alex.
