Hi
I'm having a really strange problem with an nVidia GeForce 4Ti AGP card
and DPMS on SuSE 8.0 (XFree86 4.2.0) updated to have the nVidia driver
release 1.0-3123. I have DPMS enabled in the XF86Config and xset q reports:
DPMS (Energy Star):
Standby: 1200 Suspend: 1800 Off: 2400
DPMS is Enabled
Monitor is On
In KDE I have enabled Energy and set the times as shown for standby,
suspend and off.
Now when I leave the system for 30mns it goes into standby (the Sony
20sf II shows green led / orange led). However, after 40mins it does
not go off (indicated by a single orange led).
The plot thickens because, if I force the monitor off with 'xset dpms
force off' it does the same thing - suspend only. BUT, set the off time
to '0' in KDE (but not via xset dpms) and then force off and the monitor
goes into off Yet stanger, use xautolock to run the xset dpms force off
and it only goes into standby (independent of the KDE off setting).
It's as if the code that handles switching to off is broken by the
process of minitoring for keyboard / mouse activity.
Anyone seen the same thing?
Steve
