I compiled a new X from CVS yesterday. I have been playing with it a little and it looks like the fonts rendering is much better than the version I had been using, which is two or three months old.
First is it better to just do a 'make install' over the old version or just untar the new version over the old? Any suggestions welcome. Also as far as the font rendering: Should I have seen some improvements or am I crazy? Lastly, I copied the fonts from my Windows 98SE partition to Linux. How do I make sure that X can use those?
