I have 5 MSI 6368 Motherboards with onboard Trident Microsystems CyberBlade/i1 (rev 106) chips.
I can run XFree 3.3.6 on them without problems, but XFree 4.1, XFree 4.2, and XFree 4-CVS (from a few weeks ago) all fail. Tried Linux 2.4.18 and 2.5.46 (same results) When I start X, it seems to start fine, the screen blinks (very breefly), and the monitor indicates it's in 1152x864 mode (the mode I specified in XF86Config). However, then things go silent. No reaction to the Contr-Alt-F1 key combination (switch to linux VC), and the screen stays black. (no pointer visable eighter). Even stranger: a few months back, I bought the same MSI 6368 motherboard, same CyberBlade/i1 rev 106 chip on it, and it runs Xfree 4.2 flawlessly. (I have booted them all as diskless stations, mounting excactly the same directories with the same XFree 4.2 distribution on them, so I doubt the cause could be my configuration) For those interested, I've put the XFree86.0.log file at http://iliana.komputilo.org/trident-cvs and my XF86Config file: http://iliana.komputilo.org/XF86Config-trident0 output of `cat /proc/pci': http://iliana.komputilo.org/trident-proc Is there anything I can do to test/help `real' programers making XFree CVS run on them? I'd be happy to try paches, running with more debug info, etc. Thanks, joost witteveen _______________________________________________ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
