Good question. Presumably they tickle a bug somewhere.

A few of us have seen problems like this with i810 and Linux. Those can
be made to go away under linux by with:
Option "XaaNoSolidFillRect" "On"
Obviously YMMV with FreeBSD, but it would be worth trying.
