It sounds like the xplor frontend script is not in your path. You should
be able to execute it using bin/xplor if you're in the main distribution
directory. You might also reconfigure with the -symlinks option
  ./configure -symlinks /usr/local/bin

This presumes that /usr/local/bin is in your path. If so, you'll be able
to execute xplor in any directory by simply typing
  xplor
You can examine your path using

  echo $PATH

best regards--
Charles
