I have XQuartz 2.7.0_beta2 on 10.6.8 on a MacBookAir (first model), and unison 2.40.1 installed through fink (so it has a gtk interface I believe, not a native mac one). I have six Spaces configured with various X clients open on four of them. When I invoke unison (at a prompt in an xterm) and it opens the GUI windows (two of them, one to pick the profile), Spaces immediately switches to the previous Space I was using with X clients open on it. Which is really annoying, but not actually unusable. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening? Is it something to do with my set up or is it a known bug? It doesn't happen on my newer MacBookAir, also 10.6.8 but with Xquartz 2.3.6 (as came with SL I think).

It isn't the only annoying thing I have: when I switch between different Spaces, quite often the window layering of X windows flips front to back, but the mouse or keystrokes still go into what used to be the front window. I have ffm enabled, so it is particularly noticable, because the mouse is in a different window, it is still behaving according to the original ordering. But surely ffm isn't causing the window layering to flip, which would be annoying even without ffm? And this happens on both MacAirs.

many thanks,
-- Viv
