I am running xrdp on a Fedora Linux virtual image on vCenter server and running
into an issue that I am wondering is related to xrdp. The problem is that
there are times when the combination of the shift key and any other letter
doesn't actually send the keystrokes to the xrdp session. I can duplicate it
almost consistently with typing a few characters and then backspace and
immediately hitting shift and a key. The backspace happens but the shifted key
doesn't show up (example trying to type ssh -X and the capital X doesn't come
out after hitting a backspace). I have run the rdp client from various windows
and linux desktops with the exact same problem. I have also changed the
keyboard shortcut on the xrdp server side of things and fiddled with the key
filters when running on the Windows client side of things. I have also
searched for this scenario and there have only been a few pages that refer to
this exact thing with either no workaround or mention of a patch for product
that I couldn't find.

I see that some folks mention this might be network load or server load. The
rest of the experience with this setup does not lead me to believe that there
is excessive network load or any busy processor on the server or client side.
The rest of window movement and keyboard responsiveness is actually pretty
close to native. Very impressive actually. Which is why I am wondering about
the shift key stroke sequence would have timing issues. Coupled with this,
there are times that after this happens there is a key that is repeated many
times (actually repeats until I hit some other key). I read that RDP packs up
keystrokes and maybe this is the problem. The remedy was to use the key filter
on the windows client side, but that doesn't solve the problem.

So, I turn the developers to see if there might be some other things to try. I
can provide more information if necessary, just say what you need.
