I have sometimes, the same issue when connecting.
can you verify that some process are up and running, after you log in into 
xrdp ?

There are log with some debug level available, if you configure them in 
xrdp.ini

[Logging]
LogFile=xrdp.log
LogLevel=DEBUG
EnableSyslog=1
SyslogLevel=DEBUG

and sesman.ini
[Logging]
LogFile=xrdp-sesman.log
LogLevel=DEBUG
EnableSyslog=1
SyslogLevel=DEBUG
