That is fixed in more recent versions of XRDP.
You are using 0.5 and 0.6 is available.
The packages inside this .tar.gz work on Ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04:
http://downloads.angulosolido.pt/LoginDesktop/4.5/xrdp/xrdp_entrega02.tar.gz
It would be good if Debian and Canonical moved to xrdp 0.6.
