Hello the few XSI users,

don’t know if you already noticed it, but it seems that the 24H2 update for
Windows11 does not work with Softimage OOTB. Came to my attention a few weeks
back, after installing a fresh Windows11 24H2 but with an older image from MS.
The image was some weeks old so I went back to 23H2, hoping that the official
rollout to my system would have fixes regarding the matter.

Today the 24H2 update was offered to me by windows updates and I tried it, but
nope. Bunch of errors when starting XSI regarding factory javascript stuff.

Solution from https://www.si-community.com/viewtopic.php?t=7398

Snippet:

... the issue was that the new (called "legacy") jscript scripting engine
doesn't like uninitialized variables. It can be disabled this way:
1. Win+R (run) gpedit.msc
2. In the group "Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows
Components > Internet Explorer" double click the setting "Replace JScript by
loading JScript9Legacy in place of Jscript." (German Windows: "Ersetzen Sie
JScript, indem Sie JScript9Legacy anstelle von JScript laden")
3. set it to DISABLED
4. restart PC

Works. Nice. :)

regards,

Sven
