Yeah I think these are the options I have available at the moment.
Currently I'm going with the "extra namespace declarations pooled on
the topmost level" approach. Also, thanks for pointing out that not
only does exclude-result-prefixes strip namespace prefixes, it also
strips namespace declarations from the output. Good to know :)
