Are you on Fedora or CentOS or similar? The following might help: yum provides php-xsl yum install php-xsl http://blog.georgerushby.com/installing-and-upgrading-to-php-529-on-centos-and-red-hat-linux-53-x86_64/
yum install perl-XML-LibXSLT and fixing all the scrambling done on the test data by your mail agent did it, I was finally able to reproduce, and fix.

But really using those encapsulated languages relying on the system libraries makes testing and debugging harder.
