Dear Alain,
many thaks for your answer (by the way, if I remember well, I was the one, some 
years ago, who sent you the Italian config file ;-)) and sorry for the waste of 
time I've caused to you (see below).

As a matter of fact the problem consisted simply in my misunderstanding 
concerning the right settings of the browser (both Firefox and LibbreWolf). As 
you can see from the attached screenshot, there are three level for the 
language settigs and it is not enought to check the last one (as nonetheless 
would appear to be more logical), because one should also set the "preferred 
language for displaying pages"...
