I recently purchased an Edmund's stand from Walmart. It was only $25.
It is unstained wood and works wonderfully. I have taken a pretty
pillow case and folded it to the right size and shape. I put that on
the part that holds the frame before I put the frame in. Once I put the
frame in and tighten it, it holds perfectly with fantastic tension. I
especially like being able to walk away from my work and leave it
sitting on the stand. Someday I hope to be able to afford a more
expensive and ornate stand. For now I am very happy with my Edmund's
stand.
I find myself rushing home every night from work to cross stitch. My
day is not complete if I have not at least stitched a few before bed. I
am working on my first big piece. I hope it comes out nice. I have
also begun a collection of other people's cross stitch and needlework
they have discarded. I don't understand why someone would spend so much
time on a piece, have it beautifully framed and then sell it at a yard
sale or thrift shop. I have never paid more than $4 for one of my
beautifully framed treasures. I could not even buy the kit or frame
alone for that. Makes no sense to me. Does anyone else collect
unwanted nicely framed works?
