A lot of you are using email programs that allow the use of html
(the language that makes web pages look like web pages)
or that use html encoding for creating colored backgrounds, different
type faces and colors and other cool stuff.

However, these things are generally cause problems because
not all of us on the web can read it or want to read it.
I am not picking on Kim but her's was the last one that looked like this.
This is often what we see:

><html><div>Seems very strange not to have heard from the circle for the
>last 3 days!&nbsp; Hope this mailing hasn't gone for a burton too like
>the last one I was with!&nbsp; I'll await my next message!&nbsp;
>Cheers</div>

><div>&gt;Hi there</div>
><div>&gt;Hope this helps all of you that have asked about the x-stitch

It is hard to read and it makes email messages larger taking up more space
in an email box and taking up band width. This type of encoding is
generally forbidden on lists. This one included. Often times this encoding
triggers false attachments that screw up people who are on the digest version
of the list.

I have in the past helped people through the problem on a one to one basis
but that was time consuming and next to impossible to do as I don't use
all the email programs so it is hard to help someone. But alas an XSTITCH
list member came to my rescue.

All of you! ALL OF YOU! Please check out this web site:

http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/listowners/html-off.htm

and follow the instructions for your email program!

We have only had one occurance of happy99 being sent to the list, so
you guys and gals are paying attention. Lets see if we can
rid ourselves of the dredded html encoded email.

Thanks!

Mary

Y10K --- why wait until 9998?
