Since we are on the subject of bobbins, here's a tip that took me
yonks to figure out.

After you unwind the length of thread you want to stitch with, anchor
it in the tabs.  Cut only the number of strands you need (1, 2, 3, or
whatever) and strip those strands out.  This leaves all the other
strands still attached to the bobbin.  If you're done with that
colour, you just wind up the balance of the strands for the next time
you use that colour. 

I find I no longer have to locate those 4 strands that fell on the
floor, or attached themselves to me.  I also no longer have to try to
figure out if those 4 strands are VY LT GRN or LT GRN or ULTRA LT GRN,
because they are still attached to the bobbin.
