All isn't quite lost if the kit maker didn't give you enough allowance on the sides.
You
can sew bands of fabric (washed muslin works very well) around the edges to make up the
deficit. Your framer will thank you. That one inch margin on your stitchery should be
more than enough to mat it once you've added the muslin strips.
