The first time I did cut threads, was on Victoria Sampler Silk Wysteria.
Thought I was going to die, holding my breath so long the first thread I
cut. Did it the way they said, cut in the middle. Since then, have found
help on the Sheperherd's Bush BB, and it seems easier and looks better.
Cut your first thread at the left border, unweave that one across the worked
area to the right border. Pull out the SHORT end of it from the fabric, the
little short piece still left in the left side of the fabric. Cut the second
thread on the RIGHT border, unweave it across to the left border. Pull out
the short end of that one from the right side of the fabric. Thread your
first (top) thread through your needle, and reweave it into the fabric where
the lower short end was removed. If you are doing 4 or 6 or whatever
threads, do them in pairs of 2 the same way. That way you have a nice long
piece of linen to weave back in, which will go all the way to the edge of
the fabric. If too long, you can cut it even with the edge.
Is that ladder stitch on a SB piece? They use a lot of that. So does
Victoria Sampler. There is also a band of satin stitch with that over it on
St. Peter's Fair, SB, which is where mine is stuck, since I can't figure out
where to anchor the ladder thread...
So a little help from me, and maybe I can find some help for the rest.
