The Stitchery (1-800-388-9662) is offering a Kreinik Specialty Threads Gift
Box Collection (#316271) for $125 (plus $8.50 shipping). This was my gift to
myself on getting through the divorce. It arrived today.
The catalogue says 45 reels and 21 skeins -- over 1200 yards -- presented in
a 13x9 reusable storage/gift box.
My collection included:
6 blending filament
9 Silk Serica
9 Silk Mori
Gold & Silver Japan threads (both colors in 2 sizes each)
Black "Facets" (looks like a string of beads)
Metallic Braid: 12 #4, 6 #8, 3 #12, 3 #16, 2 #32
6 Metallic Cord
2 1/8" metallic ribbon
3 1/16" metallic ribbon
Silk and metallic color cards with actual fibers attached
pocket inventory card
DMC/Anchor conversion chart for silk
miscellaneous pamphlets/brochures with tips for using various fibers

The clear plastic box is 13x9 with no dividers, so you could use it to cart
your next project around. (The photo in the catalogue looked like the box
had dividers running the long way, spaced to hold the spools.)
Although $125 is expensive, it is a good deal. It's about what I'd pay at my
local shop for 45 assorted spools of Kreinik, which means the silks, etc. are
essentially free. I've never seen the color cards anywhere, even at the
Festival, but the DMC color cards go for $12.95, so I'm assuming that would
be a reasonable comparison price for these.
I'm pretty happy with my new toy! (And for those who hate blending filament,
take note that the very fine braid and cord/cable are much easier to stitch
with and give your project the same glow.)
