Weeks Dye Works is not yarn. It is an overdyed six stranded cotton embroidery
floss. You would work with it as you would work with any other six-stranded
floss (number of strands you use depends on the material, etc.). Miranda at
Weeks says they do rinse their threads thoroughly afterwards, but like the
other overdye manufacturers I've used (Caron, Needle Necessities, etc.) they
are *not* guaranteed colorfast. If you either wash your finished pieces
afterwards or intend to stitch on something that will routinely get wet
afterwards (like clothing), please keep this in mind. So far, there have not
been any reported problems, but she likes to make sure people are aware of
this.

If you need tips on stitching with an overdyed or variegated thread itself,
the best tip I can give you is to make sure you cross and complete each X as
you do it (stitch / and immediately \ to finish -- or \ and / if that's the
way you prefer! <g>). This helps preserve the procession of the color
variegation as you stitch. Doing a row ///// and then return-crossing \\\\\
will muddy the colors somewhat. Sometimes a designer wants this effect, but
then they will specify that you are to "Danish stitch" or "tweed" with the
color. If there is no specific instruction, the designer is assuming you will
complete each X as you go along.

I'm not sure, but perhaps Cameo has a form letter for working with overdyed
threads (do you, Cameo? :>)

They're really fun to work with, and I always look forward to using them and
watching the colors change as I stitch, rather like stitching with a rainbow!
