But I give up. I'll go with:

        put item 1 [delimited by x] to 3 [delimited by y] of ...

Oh, I bet I've opened another can of worms. Any reason why we can't have a
different delimiter for the start and the end item?

But at least I got the discussion on muliple delimiters, multi-character
delimiters, "delimited by", and (essentially) regexp delimiters open :)
