Yes, this is a known issue. The problem is that tla commands run by
xtla should be non-interactive, and your gpg --clearsign prompts for a
password.

My (bad) solution is to use a private key without passphrase.

Normally, you should have archive completion while typing the archive
name, then category completion while typing something after the first
'/', and so on.

The completion list is built on-demand, so, the first time you press
TAB, you should have a message telling you "building list of
categories". Then, it uses a cache mechanisme, that you can refresh
with C-r. On recent versions, C-h will show help.

Upgrade to the latest version, and try again with this. Tell us the
result.
