It's normal, exo 0.5.3 dropped exo-mount and hal support, and both
xfdesktop4 and xfce4-places-plugin rely on it (and also xfce4-cddrive-
plugin and xfce4-volstatus-icon). But this package is only in the
xubuntu-dev ppa, not in the archive (not even in maverick), so it's
expected to have little brekages like that.
