I have been trying to configure the automount facility similar to the
one in gnome and I was not able to get it working until I saw this threat:

on the instructions:
"Open the XFCE menu, by clicking the button on the far left of the
iconbar. Click 'Run Program...' and type 'ivman &'.
an alternative could be to "mkdir ~/Desktop/Autostart/" and there "ln -s
/usr/bin/ivman ."
