One of the recurrent feedback is "it looks like gnome".
Is it a positive or a negative feedback? :)
I intentionally made it similar to gnome/ubuntu because I find it intuitive.
I know the ubuntu usability people put a lot of work in it, and I think being intuitive
far outweighs the need of looking like stock xfce or not looking like gnome.
Keep in mind Xfce was (still is) much more techie than end-user targeted than gnome or kde are.
So the panel should definitely be stretched, and I rather we have two panels - otherwise what's the
point of Jasper's hard work upstream of making multiple panels possible ;) ?
I think we should really consider this, and try to change a few things.
Daniele suggested yesterday on IRC to remove one of the panels, it could
be a start.
I think we need a taskbar. It would just clutter the single panel if not put separately.
This is still open to debate though, let's see if we get more users with beta (which is pending in
the announcement queue since yesterday evening)
But the point is we should make it easy and efficient to use without regard to the fact that it resembles
or differs from some other panel layout. That in itself is not a good criterion to base UI design on :)
