Hi all, The gimp's splash screen has been bothering me for some time. The current one is old fashioned and just plain bad. This is why. Its color is sepia tone (looks like pictures coming back from the front line during the second world war), it is too figurative, the exact opposite that a good splash suppose to be. The splash is a branding image and its function is to announce the product. It shows up only for a few seconds on the screen and because of this it should be to the point. This also means that abstract images are better for this purpose. To make the story short, I have created one that I think trendier and more suitable for that purpose. And because feisty will be such a big splash when comes out (default beryl and all the eye candy) that I think we should replace the old one for a better one, with the kind more suitable for xubuntu look and feel. You can install the image into the /usr/share/gimp/2.0/images folder if you want to try it out. Probably, it wont be the final one because I am still experimenting with other concept as well. But everyone is welcome to submit images and maybe we can come up with something really cool stuff.
