I did some small user surveying around friends and classmates on my campus and they felt the inclusion of the welcome center (or something similar) would be extremely helpful. I am curious as to the argument against it because I was apparently left out on that one, and also wasn't given the memo that its development/packaging had been halted (which is mildly upsetting because I was/am part of the project). As far as documentation/bug tracking, I will be able to contribute far more this summer (for feisty+1) but my current semester course load and my two jobs have me a little too busy to be chasing bugs and documenting at the moment (though still I do my best to watch the irc channels while I am at my sys admin job).
Cody, I hope for all the best in your pursuit of MOTU-ship, let me know when the hearing/meeting is because I would be more than willing to speak on your behalf. Yes, of course I am fired up for Feisty+1 its going to rock! :) -Adam On 3/26/07, Cody Somerville <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
The application is essentially finished (with some small tweaks required) but Radomir and I decided not to package it for various reasons. The primary being that we were unsure if the welcome centre was needed/the best approach/etc. etc. As for getting more Xubuntu people into the MOTU, I'm working towards becoming one. However, the process has been, of course, delayed with me being in the hospital. I was hoping to be a MOTU for the start of the feisty+1 release cycle but oh well - Life throughs us curve balls sometimes. (On a side note, there was some discussion on fast tracking certain MOTU-hopefuls for projects such as desktop-effects and ubuntu-studio. The exception might also apply to Xubuntu motu-hopefuls but I'm unsure). As for the documentation, we unfortunately didn't reach our documentation goals for Feisty but that's the beauty of time-based releases - we can just keep on working. However, I'm really happy to see that there is interest out there for the feisty+1 documentation work and at least we got a few small fixes (such as updating the version of Xubuntu ;]) in. I'm fired up already for feisty+1, are you? Cody A.W.
