I propose that we include access to the net-installer (mini.iso) when we update the website to announce the release of Hardy. The mini is less then 10MB total size , and allows the user to install entirely from their internet connection. The mini only includes enough information to load the alt-install style installer and get the internet connection working. Granted, because of the size of the installer and licensing concerns, it is not able to use most wi-fi internet, but I have yet to come across a NIC card that doesn't work out-of-the-box.
This is just a suggestion.... The net installer has been around since at least Dapper, and can be used to install any *buntu.... but there is no easy way to access it without digging thru archive.ununtu.com: i386: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/386/mini.iso amd64: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/mini.iso PowerPC: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/main/installer-powerpc/current/images/powerpc/netboot/mini.iso PowerPC64: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/main/installer-powerpc/current/images/powerpc64/netboot/mini.iso SPARC: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/main/installer-sparc/current/images/combined/2.6/mini.iso vidd -- xubuntu-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-devel
