I have become truly worried with what happened to xubuntu. Today windows
lost title bars and every decoration. It is also hard to switch between
running application, because Alt + Tab does not work.
Sounds like xfwm crashed and for some reason the session manager didn't
restart it. Try starting it manually. Hit alt+f2 and write xfwm4 in the box.
