Hello Xubuntu community! It is the time to submit nominations for the next Xubuntu Project Lead for the next two release cycles (see footnote [a] for clarification).
NOMINATIONS Nominations need to be sent to the Xubuntu developer mailing list [1] *before* May 1 with a link to a wiki page for the nominee. Per the strategy document [2], the wiki page should include at least the following information: – A brief history of the nominee in the FOSS world – Activities in any relevant teams – Thoughts about the Xubuntu development, including the biggest challenges and possibilities – Areas of interest as a project lead, including any changes the nominee is wishing to see in the team Both the nominating person and the nominee need to be members of the Xubuntu users Launchpad group [3]. Note: If you are nominating somebody else, please ask them for their consent; only people who are willing to serve as the project lead can be elected. VOTING There are two ways to vote to allow people from every timezone to vote: 1) By email, starting at 18UTC on May 1, ending at 18UTC on May 2. 2) In the Xubuntu community meeting starting at 18UTC on May 2 on the #xubuntu-devel IRC channel. In the case there are more than one nominee, you should vote for one of the nominees. In the case there is only one nominee, you should vote for or against the nominee. In the case there are no nominees, the voting is cancelled and the Xubuntu team will meet as scheduled to consider the future. Anybody in the Xubuntu users Launchpad group is entitled to vote. QUESTIONS? If you have any questions, please send them to the Xubuntu developer mailing list [3]. Yours truly, Pasi Lallinaho Xubuntu Project Lead [a] The Xubuntu Strategy Document [2] states that the project lead "serves a term of four releases [...] and end with an LTS release". When my term started on October 2011, the term length was set at three cycles, ending with the 13.04 release. To make the term end with an LTS release, the project lead is unlike normally elected for only two cycles.
