A few months ago, pre 14.04 release, there was a vote regarding keeping XChat as the default IRC client or replacing it. Obviously, since XChat is still there, the vote went towards keeping it.
But why? As I understand it, XChat hasn't been touched since 2010. Why are we not using something maintained and newer like Hexchat?
