Indeed moving files via mouse or clipboard regularly crashes Xubuntu 15.10's Thunar, in particular when the source files are within a linked folder (like for example when you link /media/user/mountname to /home/user/yourmount or so).

Looking on XFCE's bug-tracker this seems to be multi-core CPU related and doesn't occur within a Virtualbox. So testing needs to happen on a real machine. :-) I'm no C(++) expert but on the XFCE website bug section, it looked like they encircled the bug several weeks ago, however there hasn't been an Ubuntu bug fix so far. :-|

 From reading it seems that the issue is with moving rather than copy - so
please make a copy somewhere beforehand.
