As you'll be aware if you've read either our website announcement or the release note for Xenial's first beta, that no upgrade testing took place for it and in fact it's not that useful at the moment.

We'd like to get some sense of where we stand on this - at least for our images. To that end I'd be grateful if people could run one (or more) of the following during the next week - luckily upgrade results last for a week ( starting on 2016/02/26 at 21:00 UTC and finishing on 2016/03/04 at 21:00 UTC) this should be enough time to get more than 1 or 2 results on there.

For the moment I'm not interested in upgrades with an exisiting image but only those using the release-upgrader.

Given the precarious state of upgrades at the moment please do not try upgrading your only working install ;)

It's likely to be more useful if it is possible to do so with hardware - but I understand people don't have hundreds of bits of hardware kicking about they can use - so a virtual machine will do fine :)

So - we need to test 2 paths here, from 14.04.4 and from 15.10.

Both are shown on the iso tracker as either LTS Desktop Upgrade (Trusty) and Desktop Upgrade respectively - both obviously also have 32 and 64 bit options.

When you start a test using release-upgrader it will take some time - time for tea or coffee and cake.

Please make sure that when you do start a test you mark it on the tracker as In Progress and then edit that result once you've finished - this ensures that anyone else landing on the tracker will be aware of what is being tested by others.

One other thing to note for the tracker - I will be assuming that you have done this test using a virtual manager - so if you do have hardware available and have used it - note that down in the comments area of your result.

So if people can grab up to date images of 14.04.4 and 15.10 - make sure you then update and upgrade it and then reboot.

Once you've done that then run update-manager -d -c from a terminal.
