Testing is a great way to begin because it helps you create a better understanding of the system and how things work. Our development IRC channel #xubuntu-devel [2] is active every day, and is a great place to get to know other people who contribute to Xubuntu - and get help with any problems and questions that might arise when doing testing or something else.
