Just in case ... -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Call for testing: fontconfig Date: Wed, 6 Apr 2016 19:12:49 +0200 From: Gunnar Hjalmarsson <[email protected]> To: [email protected]
Hi all, A new upstream release of fontconfig, 2.11.94, is about to make it into the archive. I want to call your attention to this change, since it's very late in the cycle. The background is that the default font for rendering Chinese has been changed from Droid Sans to Noto Sans CJK, and the previous version of fontconfig in the Ubuntu archive (2.11.1) is not capable of handling all the font weights of Noto Sans CJK properly. Other ways we tried to prevent a regression with respect to Chinese rendering have either been insufficient or caused other kinds of regression. So I ask you to be extra attentive to any font rendering issues due to the fontconfig upgrade. Please use <https://launchpad.net/bugs/1556457> at first hand to report possible issues. It should be said that we can easily go back to 2.11.1 in case of a serious regression, if it's deemed to be the better overall option. -- Gunnar Hjalmarsson https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj -- ubuntu-devel mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-devel
