As I understand it by a quick look, this seems to try to reach similar things as the Snappy packages. In the Ubuntu universum, Snappy likely comes before Flatpak.

That said, as I see it, there isn't anything stopping you from using Flatpaks already. On the other hand, if "supporting" means using them by default, then I'd say the answer is no.
