While it is possible to run Xubuntu on ARM and PowerPC, it's not supported. For the same reason as dropping i386, we simply don't have the testers or developers available to support these platforms. As we've actually encountered several architecture-specific issues in the past, this is a real concern. Adding these options to the download page suggests that we would support them.

As for the recommended requirements, these seem sensible to me.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the suggestion, though I guess it can run on ARM and PowerPC if you go the netboot or ubuntu server routes and then install the xubuntu desktop on top of it. Maybe you can give it a try and let us know how it goes so we can put that info on the download page as well. I've seen a number of videos of people running XFCE on RPis.

@Team: Regarding the recommended requirements, here is my suggestion based on what is recommended by ubuntu mate, linux lite, peppermint, and ubuntu <https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop>.

1.5 GHz dual core processor
2 GB system memory
20 GB of free hard drive space

The only feedback I would have is maybe it is worth specifying the
    architecture that is required.

So maybe it could say an x86-64 processor.

When I see the first sentence immediately think, oh cool, maybe I can
get it running on my Raspberry Pi 3 (it has a 64-bit ARM chip, fedora
and opensuse 64-bit run on it at least). Can it run on a PowerPC
    64-bit mac? etc.

But from the mention of PAE and the lack of an .iso maybe it's not
possible on a rpi3 without some effort. It's not 100% obvious from the
    requirements.

By the way if you haven't noticed I'd definitely be interested in a
rpi3 xubuntu 20.04 disk image or .iso :)

I use my rpi3 to test stuff on aarch64 architecture all the time.
