Hi,
I just wiped my USB stick flashing the xubuntu ISO.
This could have been prevented by one additional sentence being present in the
'Write to USB or SD' section of the documentation.
https://xubuntu.github.io/xubuntu-docs/user/C/installation.html#preparation
'Please be aware that the existing data on your flash drive (/USB stick) will
be deleted upon flashing the ISO', or something along those lines, would be
sufficient. Please could you edit your documentation to this effect.
Compare to the Windows download ISO webpage, in the 'Before you begin' section:
'A blank USB flash drive with at least 5 GB of space or blank DVD (and DVD
burner) if you want to create media. We recommend using a blank USB or blank
DVD, because any content on it will be deleted.'
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10iso
Generally speaking, Linux documentation is simply not noob-proof enough. This
is not good enough.
Kind regards,
Greg
