You said you were on 14.04, and in that case you should definitely *not* upgrade to 16.04 now. The upgrade path from 14.04 to 16.04 will be ready when 16.04.01 is released, the date for that is July 21st. Until then the upgrade path is unfinished, and many users have reported problems with that upgrade. You could risk breaking your system.
